Barkwheats are all-natural buckwheat dog biscuits, hand-crafted in our bakery in Stockton Springs, Maine. We use local, organic, and fair trade ingredients! Barkwheats are baked with nearly 100% Maine-sourced ingredients. Purchase confidently knowing there are minimal food miles in our biscuits, and each sale helps to support local family farms. Our recycled box and inner cellophane bag will bio-degrade in four to six months in your home compost. Barkwheats are as healthy and safe for the earth as they are for your dog! Since our cellophane bag is made from wood pulp, it can also be burned in a woodstove or fireplace. We are a Certified B Corporation, using the power of business to solve today's social and environmental problems by purchasing from local producers, powering our operations with wind energy provided by the Mars Hill Wind Farm, using compostable packaging, among many other things. Barkwheats are grain-free, sugar-free, salt-free and preservative-free.

Socially Responsible Practices: 

Sourcing nearly 100% of our ingredients from local producers. We also source our ginger direct from farmers in the Toledo Cacao Growers Association in Belize through an alliance with Sustainable Harvest International. Our packaging is compostable and we promote composting as a way to get into local foods production and support of local agriculture.
