Paul Farrow
Vice President
Paul Farrow has been called a serial entrepreneur. He has served as CEO, COO, CFO and founder in companies ranging from his own successful startup in the fast growing kayak business to a corporate officer of a $200M public environmental services firm, to CEO of a private equity-owned exhibit structures company. Also, Paul has done several successful turnarounds, developed two patented products and found time to build a solar-powered, rainwater-supplied island retreat off the Maine coast.
Paul’s entrepreneurial involvement in sustainable business practice, writing and presentations spans almost 20 years. His activities have been recognized in the media by the Wall Street Journal, Boston Globe, NBC Today Show, US News and World Report, International Design Magazine, Esquire, Inc. Magazine (cover Aug ’93) and others.
Paul joined the Riverside portfolio company, Moss Inc., as CEO in 2001 and grew it threefold before retiring in 2006. During that time, Moss acquired and assimilated a key competitor, expanded geographically from its New England base to Chicago and Las Vegas, diversified markets from one to four, and built new leadership - all in accord with the Moss Strategic Plan. He continued to serve on the Moss Board until July, 2008, when Riverside exited at 4.2x cash-on-cash, 32% IRR.
Since 2006, Paul has been helping businesses drive value by using sustainable business methods to improve their triple bottom lines. He is currently working with The Riverside Company, a private equity investor, to build a proprietary sustainable business toolkit for their 70 portfolio companies.
Paul and his wife, June, have three grown sons. He is active on the Board of Maine Businesses for Sustainability, a member of International Society of Sustainability Professionals (ISSP), and holds a BS degree in finance from the Wharton School.
